Pittsburg, KS – January 7, 2017 – Local author Dustyn McCormick will get his first taste of publishing success at the local launch of his debut novel, Ragged Edge.
The event is slated for Thursday, January 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. at World Cup Coffee & Crepes at 1501 SW 21st Street in Topeka. McCormick will be on hand to sign copies of his urban fantasy novel and to answer questions. Representatives from publisher Spellhawks Press will also be present.
“Dustyn’s use of subtle sarcasm and humor is engaging,” said Allen Childers, Spellhawks Press publisher, “but a lot of what interested me was his strong characters and the uniqueness of the concept. It went against most fantasy tropes. He gives a lot of historical context and a fresh perspective.”
In Ragged Edge, McCormick weaves together lore about the Codex Gigas, a.k.a. The Devil’s Bible; Atlantis; and Celtic deities to deliver a whirlwind read aimed at lovers of humor-laced fantasy. In it we meet Sean Gryphon, Atlantean and reluctant protector of human kind, and Dr. Ilsy Hillerman, discoverer of the Codex’s missing pages, as they fight a necromancer who would use the pages to unlock the gates of Hell.
McCormick lives in Topeka, Kansas, where he has lived most of his life. Always a voracious reader, his interest in writing started in fourth grade, where his teacher required journaling and story writing. He collects books on and studies military history, pirates, the paranormal, and any other subject that doesn’t serve a useful function. He and his wife have four children, two dogs, and a cat.
Ragged Edge is available as a paperback or an e-book at Amazon. To learn more, visit www.dustynmccormick.com or www.spellhawkspress.com.
